Philippines Culture

Filipinos Are Very Religious.

Each year in the Philippines around April starts Holy Week. It begins on Palm Sunday and continues on through to Black Saturday. In the Philippines, most of the people are Roman Catholic they take this very seriously. The re-enactment of Good Friday is the intense part of Holy Week. On Good Friday Filipino will imitate Jesus Christ suffering which includes beating, whipping, and hanging on the cross.

Take Shoes Off

Take shoes off before entering a house. Take shoes off before entering a house on less told not to. Some people still let you bring shoes inside the house because they are trying to be nice but it is rude to leave your shoes on. People do not want you to bring in dirt and other stuff from outside into their houses.  People in the Philippines do not just walk on the floor some sit down on the floor and some people sleep on the floor. So they want it as clean as possible. Some western people may think this is odd but the Phillippines are not alone a lot of Asian countries do this.

 Philippines Time

Filipino are known to run late when it comes to informal gatherings. Party, friends, and dates expected them to be late its nothing personal. In fact, a lot of islands I visited around the world are like this. Even in the United States if you live in Hawaii. Informal meetings with friends most of the time are late especially if they are locals. That island life for you people are really laid back.
